Canapes, just canapes but wow the Vineyard is spectacular

I think I have made it very clear how much I love the Vineyard at Stockcross, I may have also mentioned that my favourite two food groups are champagne and canapes which the Vineyard excel at. The event I attended was to promote the West Berkshire Business Awards (they have put in a community/charity category now but need sponsors for that if anyone should feel inclined to support it, West Berkshire Mencap would be very grateful).

Next week I will do a review of the hotel which I have never stayed in despite eating there often. In my spare time I am writing a book, a novel, which is based at the Vineyard, it is an important part of the plot that the hotel has to be the ultimate in luxury and decadence so I am staying the night there, alone, to take notes and get the experience. I will of course blog about the hotel stay and the food, I note that the menu has changed slightly although they are still offering the interesting ‘pick your own’ tasting menu which I lovel

pea veloute with goats cheese, lobster beignets, cheese and pistachio cheese straws and ham hock terrine with the most amazing zing of Chardonnay jelly

More vineyard canapes as described before except the final spoon is smoked salmon paupiette with creme fraiche and micro herbs. How can the Vineyard be so good at this

I could actually be made very happy with a room full of canapes and champagne, it is like a reduced version of a tasting menu and avoids food envy which nearly always ends in tears (not mine as I get what I want!).

The Vineyard are very supportive of their local community, certainly West Berkshire Mencap have benefited from their generosity before in many ways and event the event I attended today was supported by the Vineyard. Add that to the fact that The Vineyard has close links with Greenham Common Trust, a unique and wonderful grant making organisation and I hope you will agree that this is a great combination that West Berkshire and he surrounding areas should be proud of. Now I just need someone to help me get a wine tasting course so can appreciate the whole wine experience in a much more knowledgeable way.
